Why I Want Ryback To Fail

As a performer it’s true I don’t think much of him, and as a person obviously I don’t know him at all.

So I do want it understood going forward this isn’t personal, just my opinion of what I think is for the best.

Let me just lay out a little what some of the negatives and positives are I see in Ryback. » Read more..

Those Who Do Not Learn From History…

Suddenly I found that no one wanted to talk wrestling with me, it wasn’t “cool” anymore. I chose to trudge on, silently, watching such stars as Bret Hart, Yokozuna, Diesel, and Shawn Michaels take a run on top of the World Wrestling Federation. I also checked out WCW whenever I could, especially when the Hollywood Blondes were on TV, or even when Hulk Hogan “jumped Ship” in 1994 and joined World Championship Wrestling.

I can recall, quite vividly, hearing the news that WCW would be starting a Monday Night program to go head to head with WWF Monday Night RAW. What a stupid move by WCW, I thought. Well I was wrong (first time for everything!) and the Monday Night Wars were born. » Read more..

Why Ryback Seems Unlikely To Be The Next Goldberg

A few weeks back after the debut of Ryback I joked that he was Brock Lesnar, and I wasn’t too far off.

As Addie and I sat watching Extreme Rules Ryback made his way down to the ring in an unadvertised match against two jobbers and something hit me. He had been on screen less than 2 seconds when I turned to Addie and said simply “Goldberg”. I don’t know why it suddenly hit me, but I guess I wasn’t the only one as once Ryback was in the ring the Chicago crowd started chanting “Goldberg…Goldberg…Goldberg…” mockingly at Ryback much to Addie’s and my amusement. Lesnar had some Goldberg chants directed at him during the early parts of his initial WWE run » Read more..
